SERIES HISTORY

While North Cobb and Kell are separated by only a few miles, opportunities for the two programs to meet on the field have been surprisingly rare over the years due to competing in different classifications. In fact, the last regular season meeting between the Warriors and Longhorns came back in 2007, when North Cobb earned a 36-6 victory.

Now, nearly two decades later, the two proud Cobb County programs will square off once again in a highly anticipated fall scrimmage matchup. Kell enters the season coming off an outstanding 11-3 campaign in 2025, advancing to the third round of the state playoffs before falling to eventual state champion Creekside. The Longhorns once again bring a talented and well-coached roster into the new season.

For North Cobb, the scrimmage provides an early opportunity to test itself against one of the area’s top programs before the regular season begins.

SHANE QUEEN ENTERING 21ST SEASON

Since taking over the North Cobb program in 2007, Head Coach Shane Queen has established himself as one of the most respected and successful coaches in Georgia high school football.

Entering his 21st season at North Cobb, Queen is the longest-tenured head coach in Cobb County and currently the winningest active coach in the county. He has accumulated 187 career victories, placing him among the winningest active coaches in the state of Georgia.

Under Queen’s leadership, the Warriors have become a consistent statewide contender, capturing seven region championships, making the state playoffs in 14 of the last 15 seasons, and producing multiple 10-win campaigns and deep postseason runs.
